One standard across Hooj

These Community Guidelines apply to profiles, posts, comments, reactions, stories, messages, group chats, listings, offers, meetups, events, tickets, organizations, payment-related activity, and other use of Hooj.

They apply whether content is public, limited to followers, shared with a school, event, organization, group, or individual, temporary, permanent, or intended to disappear after viewing. A smaller audience does not make harmful conduct acceptable.

These Guidelines supplement the Terms of Service, Prohibited Items Policy, Event and Ticket Terms, and other applicable Hooj policies.

Be who you say you are

Use accurate account, school, organization, listing, event, and payment information. Do not impersonate another person or organization, misrepresent affiliation or authority, or use verification indicators in a misleading way.

• Do not create deceptive profiles, fabricated organizations, false events, or fake listings.
• Do not pretend to speak for a school, organization, employer, public figure, or another user without authorization.
• Do not transfer, sell, or share access to an account to evade identity, safety, or payment controls.
• Organization owners and managers must assign roles honestly and remove access that is no longer appropriate.

Parody, commentary, and fan activity must not reasonably mislead people about who operates the account or whether it is official.

Treat people with dignity

Hooj allows disagreement, criticism, negotiation, humor, and strong opinions. It does not allow conduct that targets people with harassment, intimidation, degradation, or hate.

• No credible threats, stalking, coercion, blackmail, or encouragement of violence.
• No hateful attacks, slurs, dehumanization, or calls for exclusion or harm based on protected characteristics.
• No sustained or coordinated harassment, unwanted sexual attention, malicious humiliation, or encouragement to target another person.
• No sharing private information to intimidate, punish, or expose someone.
• No evading blocks or account restrictions to continue unwanted contact.

Context matters, including whether conduct is targeted, repeated, threatening, newsworthy, educational, condemnatory, or clearly consensual. Context does not excuse credible danger or exploitation.

Do not enable harm or exploitation

Do not use Hooj to plan, celebrate, request, facilitate, or meaningfully encourage violence, abuse, sexual exploitation, trafficking, self-harm, dangerous challenges, or other serious harm.

Hooj has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. Never create, request, possess, distribute, or threaten to distribute exploitative material involving a minor. Do not download or forward suspected material in order to report it. Follow the Child Safety Standards.

Hooj is not an emergency service. When anyone may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or campus public safety instead of waiting for a moderation response. See Safety and Reporting for urgent-help guidance.

Share content responsibly

Posts and stories should contribute to the audience they reach without deceiving, exploiting, or endangering people. Do not post unlawful sexual content, graphic violence intended to shock or glorify harm, non-consensual intimate media, or content that facilitates abuse.

• Use captions, edits, and context honestly. Do not materially alter media to frame someone for conduct that did not occur.
• Do not post another person's intimate imagery without explicit permission.
• Do not use temporary content or one-time media to send threats, harassment, fraud, or prohibited material.
• Do not submit unrelated, misleading, or disruptive content to school, event, or organization stories.
• Respect requests to remove ordinary personal content when continued publication creates a legitimate privacy or safety concern, even where removal is not legally required.

Artistic, documentary, educational, medical, or newsworthy context may affect review, but it does not automatically override privacy, safety, or legal restrictions.

Respect the inbox

Direct messages, group chats, organization chats, attachments, and one-time media are for communication, not pressure or abuse. Do not send repeated unwanted messages, mass solicitations, sexual content without consent, threats, scams, malware, or content designed to evade moderation.

Group owners and organization leaders should use member-management tools fairly. They may manage participation and roles, but must not use group access to discriminate unlawfully, retaliate, expose private information, or coordinate harassment.

If a message creates a safety concern, preserve relevant context, block the sender when appropriate, report the user or associated content, and follow the current message-reporting guidance on Safety and Reporting.

Trade honestly and safely

Listings, offers, meetup proposals, and payment actions must accurately represent the item, price, condition, ownership, availability, location, payment method, and agreed exchange.

• Do not list stolen, counterfeit, nonexistent, prohibited, or materially misrepresented items.
• Do not manipulate offers, create fake demand, use another account to influence a transaction, or pressure someone to bypass safeguards.
• Do not request passwords, full card details, account-verification codes, or unnecessary sensitive information.
• Do not falsely confirm payment, possession, meetup completion, delivery, or a Hooj Pay handoff.
• Do not repeatedly fail to appear, change material terms at the meetup, or use meetup details to harass or endanger someone.

Meet in an appropriate public place, inspect the item, and verify the transaction state before completing the exchange. Marketplace restrictions are detailed in the Prohibited Items Policy.

Organize with accountability

Event hosts and organization leaders have additional responsibility because their decisions can affect members, attendees, applicants, ticket buyers, and the wider campus community.

• Describe events, admission, eligibility, location, time, capacity, risks, and ticket benefits accurately.
• Do not create deceptive events, fabricate attendance, sell invalid admission, or misuse attendee information.
• Use ticket-request, RSVP, member, role, verification, and moderation controls consistently and in good faith.
• Do not use an organization identity to disguise personal conduct, evade enforcement, or imply school approval.
• Follow venue, campus, accessibility, capacity, safety, payment, and legal requirements.

Verification does not mean Hooj endorses an organization or guarantees its activities. More event responsibilities appear in the Event and Ticket Terms.

Respect privacy and consent

Do not collect, publish, sell, threaten to expose, or misuse another person's private or sensitive information. This includes precise location, home address, personal phone number, financial information, credentials, private communications, intimate imagery, identification documents, and confidential school or organization records.

Before sharing identifiable photos, videos, messages, or sensitive stories, consider the audience and whether the people involved reasonably consented. Being present at an event does not automatically authorize every use of a person's image or private conduct.

Do not misuse attendee, member, follower, buyer, seller, or payment information obtained through Hooj. Handle personal information consistently with the Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Do not manipulate Hooj

Spam and artificial behavior make discovery less useful and campus communities less trustworthy. Do not:

• Create coordinated or automated engagement, fake followers, fake reactions, fake attendance, false reviews, or fabricated transactions.
• Post repetitive, irrelevant, deceptive, or mass promotional content.
• Manipulate reporting, ranking, search, referrals, ambassador rewards, verification, ticket inventory, or payment systems.
• Use bots, scraping, malware, credential theft, unauthorized automation, or technical methods that disrupt Hooj or other users.
• Create or coordinate accounts to evade a block, suspension, ban, content restriction, payment control, or report limit.

Businesses, sponsors, organizations, and ambassadors must identify promotional relationships when required and must not disguise advertising as independent user activity.

Share only what you may use

Post content you created, have permission to use, are licensed to share, or may lawfully use. Do not upload pirated media, stolen photos, counterfeit branding, or material that violates copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights.

Copyright owners and authorized representatives should use the Copyright and DMCA Policy. Do not misuse copyright or trademark complaints to silence criticism, interfere with legitimate competition, or remove content you do not control.

You must also comply with applicable laws and campus or venue rules. Something can violate Hooj policy even when it is not clearly illegal, and something not expressly listed here can still be unsafe, deceptive, or harmful.

Reporting and enforcement

Use Hooj's reporting tools when content or conduct may violate these Guidelines. Reports should be honest, relevant, and specific. Reporting someone does not guarantee removal, and a high number of reports does not by itself prove a violation.

Depending on severity, context, repetition, evidence, and risk, Hooj may dismiss a report, reduce distribution, remove content, archive a listing, cancel or hide an event, suspend an organization, restrict features, revoke verification, preserve records, suspend payment activity where appropriate, deactivate an account, or permanently ban access.

Hooj may act without advance notice when needed to address serious harm, fraud, legal obligations, or platform integrity. We do not promise a particular response time or disclose every moderation outcome. Where a review path is available, use the process described in Safety and Reporting.
